LAST CHEF:

Tamsir Ndir

Tamsir Ndir is a self-taught Senegalese chef with over 25 years of experience, currently working in Abidjan as head chef and food & beverage manager at the Lepic Villa Hotel.

Known for his market-fresh cuisine and passion for local ingredients, he has run kitchens in Dakar and France and created the unique concept ZIK AK LEK, which combines live cooking with Afro house DJ sets.

He is also the founder of Senegal Street Food, an event celebrating West African street cuisine, and performs as DJ TchoubTchoub.

Chef Tamsir served up a meal at our restaurant on May 16, in keeping with the HKW exhibition series “Musafiri – of travelers and guests) At this dinner, we were able to experience “Teranga,” the hospitable tradition of Senegal and the Senegambia region, formerly known as Jolof.

At Teranga, travelers and guests are treated to delicious homemade dishes, especially the legendary Ceebu Jën, Senegal’s “national dish,” which has even made it onto UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.

Fashion designer Khadija Aisha Ba, founder of L’Artisane, transformed our restaurant and made Teranga an experience for all the senses. This was accompanied by a program of short films and conversation.

The evening ended with Chef Tamsir—aka DJ Tchoub Tchoub—on the turntables.

In the framework of Tongue and Throat Memories und Musafiri.
