NEXT CHEF:

Paul Toussaint

11.-13. August 2023

Born and raised in Jacmel, Haiti, Paul Toussaint moved to Canada at the age of 20 to study law, but was not much of an “office person” and eventually found his way into the kitchen of one of the best restaurants in the world, Toqué! where he honed his craft and learned the ins and outs of fine dining. After returning to Haiti for several years to help rebuild after the earthquake, he returned to Canada to take up the position of head chef at the Agrikol restaurant in Montreal.

“I love Haiti, it’s my culture,” says chef Paul proudly, but he wanted to offer something different in terms of cuisine, and so the idea was born to unite all Caribbean influences under one roof in his newly founded restaurants. Kamúy and TimeOut – Americas BBQ.

In May 2022, he joined forces with the Belle Gueule beer garden and the Aux Quartiers Belle Gueule Pub to become head chef of a gastronomic experience on one of the best terraces in the city

Paul Toussaint was voted 2021 Chef of the Year by Eater Montreal and named to the 2020 Canada’s 100 Best list.
He is a proven supporter of charitable organizations in his community, including Welcome Hall Mission and Artists for Peace and Justice.
